Project 99A’s Gingerbread Community Library was officially opened on Sun., June 13th, 2021 at 2pm. The red ribbon was expertly cut by Richmond Hill Councillor Tom Muench and Project 99A’s Founder and Chief Literacy Ambassador Josephine Vaccaro-Chang who together with Literacy Ambassador Joe Campisi lovingly created the library. A special thank you to The Pollination Project for sponsoring our community library and the members of the The BayMills Ratepayers Association for helping to promote the event. The festive occasion was attended by many local residents and their families including Project 99A board members Russell Chang and Siraj Mehdi.
The picture above is of Freya, a local resident who was the first person to use the library. Freya deposited a book then selected a book to take home. Within minutes another visitor reviewed our entire collection and selected Freya’s contribution. Many visitors commented on how “cute” the library looked and shared their plans to, “share a book and/or take a book.”
